BCR Partners with North Dakota, Hawaii to Administer Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Opportunity Online Hardware Grants

Aurora, CO, July 27, 2009 — BCR is partnering with the North Dakota State Library and the Hawaii State Public Library System to administer the third and final round of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Opportunity Online Hardware Grants program. The grant program will help eligible public libraries in these states upgrade and add public computer workstations for patrons in communities with high concentrations of poverty and where a library’s public computers are at risk of becoming outdated with limited capacity for users.

Schenectady (NY) Library Will Need a Year for a Major Renovation

If they want a new library, they won't be able to use the old one for awhile.

The $8M project calls for temporary closure of Schenectady Main Library; over 1,400 daily library patrons will be forced to seek other options while the library is closed for a year or more. The building, opened about 40 years ago, is at Clinton and Liberty streets, sandwiched between City Hall and police headquarters.
