Submissions are now being accepted for the second annual SEE-IT™ Award. SEE-IT stands for Stories Engagingly Expressed-Illustratively Told. The SEE-IT Award is an annual book award given in partnership by EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and the Graphic Novel Committee of the Children’s Book Council (CBC) to honor the outstanding achievements of authors and illustrators in youth graphic novels. Publishers are encouraged to submit titles for award consideration by March 9, 2018.

DUBLIN, Ohio, April 14, 2015—OCLC has signed agreements with leading publishers in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Business to add metadata for books, e-books, journals, audiovisual materials and databases that will make their content discoverable through WorldCat Discovery Services.

Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a not-for-profit organization creating global licensing and content solutions that make copyright work for everyone, has announced a record royalty payment of $188.7 million to rightsholders in FY’13, an increase of more than 5% over the $179.4 million paid the previous year. During the last ten years, CCC has distributed $1.4 billion to rightsholders.

More publishers to add e-book metadata to WorldCat

OCLC has signed new agreements with leading publishers around the world to add more e-book metadata to WorldCat, the most comprehensive online database of resources available through libraries worldwide.

This new WorldCat metadata will be integrated into library management workflows using OCLC’s cataloging services and discoverable by users through a variety of library discovery services, including WorldCat Local and WorldCat.org.

Save the dates for the eighth annual West Texas Book and Music Festival, September 23-27, 2008 at the Abilene Civic Center in Abilene, Texas. Dr. Don B. Graham, a distinguished writer and teacher specializing in Texas and Southwest literature, will be the 2008 recipient of the A. C. Greene Award to be presented at the West Texas Book & Music Festival on Sept. 27.
Graham is the J. Frank Dobie Regents Professor at the University of Texas at Austin and is a writer-at-large for Texas Monthly magazine.
