Libraries in Australia begin pilots of OCLC WorldShare Management Services

Just weeks after OCLC began operating a new data center in Sydney, libraries in Australia began pilot projects to implement OCLC WorldShare Management Services, the cooperative’s new cloud-based approach to managing library services that provide tools to improve library workflows, reduce costs and offer new opportunities for collaboration.

OCLC WorldShare Management Services provide a Web-based environment that streamlines cataloguing, acquisitions, license management and circulation, and offer a next-gen discovery tool for library users.

Selover Public Library Joins COOL and Goes Live on Evergreen

Selover Public Library has become the third library to go live on Evergreen joining Sunbury and Germantown as part of the Consortium of Ohio Libraries (COOL). 21,000 bibliographic items and 4,300 new patrons were migrated to the COOL combined catalog which can be viewed online at http://cool-cat.org/.

West Nipissing Public Libraries Go Live on Evergreen

The West Nipissing Public Libraries in Ontario have gone live on Evergreen as part of the Blue Sky Consortium. They join North Bay Public Library which has been using the open source software since October. Equinox Software oversaw data migration and implementation and will continue to provide ongoing technical support for the growing consortium.

Jack B. Blount named OCLC President and CEO

Jack B. Blount, an executive with experience leading several technology organizations in a career spanning 35 years, has been named OCLC President and CEO.

Mr. Blount was most recently President and CEO of Alpha Bay Corporation, a global technologies and services provider based in Salt Lake City, Utah. From 2002 to 2005, he was President and CEO of Dynix Corporation, a technology-based library services organization that was acquired by Sirsi in 2005 to form SirsiDynix.

This brings the number of libraries worldwide committed to using WorldShare Management Services to 210.
