"The Color of Courage" Finalist in IndieFab Book of the Year Awards

Los Angeles, California, May 15, 2015 — Aquila Polonica Publishing is pleased to announce that "The Color of Courage—A Boy at War: The World War II Diary of Julian Kulski" (Nov. 2014) has been named a finalist in the 2015 Foreword Reviews’ IndieFab Book of the Year Award in the category of Nonfiction War & Military.

The winners will be announced in a ceremony held in San Francisco on the evening of June 26, 2015 in conjunction with the American Library Association Annual Conference. In each category, a Gold, Silver and Bronze winner will be chosen. In addition, a $1,500 cash prize will also be awarded to the Best Fiction and Best Nonfiction as determined by the editors of Foreword Reviews.

Each year, Foreword Reviews, an award-winning quarterly print magazine and website devoted to independently published books, shines a light on a select group of indie publishers, university presses and self-published authors whose work stands out from the crowd. For the annual IndieFab Book of the Year Awards, a short list of finalists in each of 63 categories is chosen by the editors of Foreword Review; the books that make the cut are then sent to a panel of more than 100 volunteer librarians and booksellers, who will determine the winners in each category.

“After 17 years, our awards program has become synonymous with quality because our editors set such a high bar on the finalist round, which makes it especially tough on judges who select the winners,” said Victoria Sutherland, publisher of Foreword Reviews.

"The Color of Courage" earned a rave review from Foreword Reviews in November 2014: “This gripping personal account brings a deeply moving and unique perspective to World War II... utterly wrenching, heartfelt, and visceral narrative... includes thought-provoking philosophies and musings... a compelling and polished read with its own irresistible momentum... Poignant, haunting, gripping, and bursting with realism...”

Fresh off "The Color of Courage" winning both Gold and Silver Awards in the 2015 Benjamin Franklin Awards, Aquila Polonica president Terry Tegnazian said, “We’re very excited to learn that The Color of Courage has been shortlisted for the IndieFab Book of the Year Awards. This rare look at World War II through the eyes of a young boy soldier stays with you long after you close the book.” To learn more:

In his Foreword to this remarkable diary of a boy soldier during World War II, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Lech Walesa calls "The Color of Courage" “a superb lesson of humanity.” The Chief Rabbi of Poland, Rabbi Michael Schudrich, writing the Introduction to the book, praises "The Color of Courage" as “an inspiring read.” Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski says: “Compelling, readable, and very moving.” Watch the book trailer:
