LAC Group Hires Veteran Information Management Industry Leader

New York, NY— LAC Group is pleased to report that legal information industry expert, law librarian and knowledge manager, Nina Platt has joined the firm’s New York office to serve as Senior Director of Legal Market Services. In her new position, Platt will work closely with other key LAC Group divisions, including Chase Cost Management (CCM), in supporting customized solutions for libraries, research services as well as expense management and contract optimization for digital content.

Platt has an extensive background in law library, information and knowledge management including strategic planning, project management, research management, contract negotiation and cost controls. Nina’s background includes experience as director of information resources and other roles at several AmLaw 100 firms as well as public law and non-law libraries. When she was the owner of her own research and consulting firm, Nina supported small to mega law firms’ information, knowledge and market/industry research needs. Currently Nina is also the editor of the PinHawk Law Library newsletter.

LAC Group is a global information management company that works with leading business, professional and academic organizations including AMLaw 200 law firms, with operations at over 60 locations throughout the United States, Europe and Canada. That number is anticipated to grow in tandem with increased requests for consulting and in-sourced solutions for law firm libraries.

“Nina Platt’s track record for achieving excellent results is widely admired in this industry, and exactly why we want her on our team,” says Rob Corrao, COO of LAC Group. “Her bench strength in understanding how information is acquired and accessed in law firms only increases the depth of knowledge we can provide to our law firm clients,” adds Deborah Schwarz, CEO.

Platt holds a B.S. in Library Science from the University of North Dakota and a MSLIS in Library and Information Science from Dominican University. Her previous work in implementing electronic resources and managing the related licensing and delivery of those resources won her the Special Libraries Innovation in Technology award.

“In today’s market, law firms must have access to both external information and internal knowledge at a moment’s notice and for long term planning. At the same time law firm libraries are changing to support the needs of their firms across multiple practice groups and industries; helping firms develop and efficiently deploy a strategy to meet their information and knowledge needs is my passion," says Platt.

Schwarz knows professional service firms benefit from specialized focus in library and information management trends and best practices. Her firm provides a flexible and customized approach to staffing and staffing augmentation, as well as access to expertise for project and services such as on-demand research. “We have relationships with thousands of qualified info management specialists who can provide support on a transactional as well as on-going basis,” she says. “Nina knows the challenges firms face and will be a great asset to our law firm clients.”

LAC Group's extensive client base includes 80 of the AmLaw 200.
