LITA Forum: Call for Participation in 5-Minute Madness

Oct
06

This year's LITA Forum will feature our second annual Five Minute Madness session, bringing a touch of the "unconference" to our meeting.

This will be held during one of the concurrent sessions and will feature nine five-minute mini-talks. We invite you to participate and share information about a project of interest to LITA members that perhaps wasn't "jelled" when we issued the formal call for participation. Speakers are strictly held to five minutes, and then there is a Q&A period for all speakers at the end. This year's session will be held Saturday, October 18, 10:50am - noon.

I recently started a new position as a cataloging librarian for a library services and staffing company headquartered in Wilton, CT -- I am located in lovely Fort Wayne, IN. One of the benefits of the position is my ability to telecommute from home. One of my first actions in my new position was to look for resources for telecommuting librarians and a place to be able to network and have discussions with other telecommuters on a regular and ongoing basis.

WVU Libraries receives more Don Knotts memorabilia

Oct
02

What happened after Deputy Fife hung up his gun holster, Mr. Furley left the landlord business, Mr. Chicken overcame his fears and the Apple Dumpling Gang rode off into the sunset?

That’s when Don Knotts, the comic genius and West Virginia University alumnus, returned to his first love – live theater.

This lesser-known aspect of Knotts’ acting career is chronicled in the latest gift of memorabilia from his widow, Francey Yarborough-Knotts, to the WVU Libraries’ West Virginia and Regional History Collection.
