Shawn Boyette Joins Equinox Software Inc.

Norcross, GA – August 7, 2008

Equinox Software, Inc., the support and development company for Evergreen, the consortial-quality open source library automation software, welcomes Shawn Boyette to the Equinox team as a Data Migration Specialist. Boyette will be assisting the development team with data preparation and migration as new libraries prepare to go live with Evergreen, the consortial-quality open-source library automation software.

Mike Rylander, Equinox Vice President of Research and Design, said, “Shawn joins us at a pivotal time for Evergreen and Equinox. We will have completed at least thirty migrations by the end of this year, and Evergreen’s development pace has picked up, with two crucial releases this summer and a bigger one due out September. Shawn’s expertise with data migration and his programming skills are a great asset to the Evergreen community.”

Boyette commented, “I’ve always been impressed by Equinox’s commitment to doing the right thing. Competence is rare enough, but competence and ethics--that is amazing.” He added, “I was pretty much raised by my local library and felt a gnawing desire to work in the field.” That desire and his knowledge of Evergreen led him to Equinox.

Boyette comes to Equinox with 10 years of combined experience as a developer, systems administrator, and other skills important to Evergreen’s development future. He most recently worked for Google in data center operations. He has been a Linux user since 1993, and has contributed back to various OSS communities since 1997.

About Evergreen

Evergreen is consortial-quality, open-source library system software. Evergreen was initially developed to support PINES, a resource-sharing consortium with over 270 public libraries. While Evergreen was designed from the ground up to meet the needs of very large, high-transaction, multi-site consortia, its robust, fault-tolerant architecture elegantly scales down to the smallest sites. Evergreen is also adaptive software that due to its service-oriented, standards-compliant design can nimbly evolve to meet changing library needs and user expectations.

From its debut in September 2006, Evergreen has consistently outperformed expectations and resulted in acclaim and praise from users worldwide. Evergreen has received significant attention, including a Technology Collaboration Award and grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Additional Evergreen implementations include the SITKA consortium in British Columbia, Canada, and ongoing implementations for the Michigan Library Consortium, with future implementations in Indiana. About Equinox Software, Inc.

Founded by the original Evergreen designers and developers, Equinox Software is a growing team of skilled developers and other professionals who provide soup-to-nuts support for Evergreen, the consortial-quality, open source Integrated Library System (ILS). Equinox develops, supports, trains, migrates, integrates, and consults on Evergreen, and engages with the rapidly expanding Evergreen community. Instead of one-size-fits-all support, Equinox works closely with libraries to ensure Evergreen is implemented in the manner that best fits their individual needs. In addition to support, custom development and integration services, Equinox offers complete Evergreen hosting packages for libraries wishing to outsource their ILS infrastructure. Equinox also provides consulting services for libraries seeking more insight into the value proposition of open source software.
