Ingram Digital SM Rolls Out Patron Select e-Book Program for Greater Western Library Alliance Members

Participating research libraries can customize content collections based
on patrons’ requirements and usage patterns

LA VERGNE, TN –The Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA) has selected
Ingram Digital SM, an Ingram Content Company focused on solutions for
digital content management, distribution and promotion, to launch the
consortium’s first user driven e-book program.

A consortium of 31 research libraries located in the Midwestern and
Western U.S., GWLA is offering members the ability to leverage Ingram
Digital’s inventory of more than 100,000 academic and scholarly titles
on a patron-driven basis. Libraries at the University of Houston, Utah
State University, Baylor University, Southern Illinois University and
Kansas State University have already signed up to participate in GWLA’s
e-book program.

“Our members were reporting a growing demand for access to quality
academic content in electronic form,” commented Anne E. McKee, GWLA
Program Officer for Resource Sharing. “By combining premium digital
inventory with a user-friendly aggregation platform in a user-driven
model, Ingram Digital proved to be the ideal partner for this
initiative.”

Libraries participating in the GWLA e-book program will be able to create
custom collections from Ingram Digital’s vast inventory of content. In
addition, the program’s patron-driven model will ensure that libraries
only pay for e-books accessed, maximizing return on investment.
“We are very excited to be working with such a select group of research
libraries,” commented Rich Rosy, Vice President and General Manager of
Ingram Digital Institutional Solutions. “This engagement is proof that
our ability to offer custom collections, as well as flexible pricing
models, truly sets us apart as strategic partners to libraries looking to
enhance their digital offering.”
