AURORA, Colo., March 11, 2009 — The Oregon State Library is participating in BCR’s Shelf2Life program, bringing its collections of pre-1923 U.S.-published monographs in the fields of genealogy and family history to the public through a print-on-demand program available through hundreds of online book retailers.

SOPAC was created as a module for the widely adopted Drupal OSS content management system. SOPAC provides a simple mechanism for integrating library catalog systems with the power of the Drupal content management system while allowing users to tag, rate, and review holdings. User input is then incorporated into the discovery index so that SOPAC becomes a truly community-driven catalog system. Other features include:

Hamilton Public Library Becomes the First Major Canadian Library System to Install ITG RFID Technology Solutions

Norcross, Ga. – Integrated Technology Group (ITG), a division of Vernon Library Supplies, Inc., in partnership with SirsiDynix, has expanded its client base to include its first major Canadian library system—the Hamilton Public Library in Ontario. By the end of 2009, Hamilton Public Library is scheduled to install a mix of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology applications in 19 of its 23 branches, as well as in the technical services department. The installations will include ITG’s Apex XpressCheck™ patron self-service kiosks and Apex FlexCheck™ staff stations.
